1st year BA students – warnings Binding Study Advice

In March the Board of Examiners in accordance with the Teaching and Examination Regulations reminds its first-year bachelor’s students of the existence of the Binding Study Advice (BSA) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The purpose of the present message is to inform you that the warning letters will be sent later this week. Please check your mail carefully in the next few days.

The warnings consist of a letter with an advice (green, orange, or red) and a transcript of results obtained so far. The documents will be send by postal mail to the residential address of all registered first-year bachelor’s students.

We also refer to the information on the Binding Study Advice that is published on ‘FASoS Study Information’. Read the general information and the attached files carefully, especially the new file “Binding Study Advice and halfway through the first-year: How am I doing?”

Even if you think that this Binding Study Advice does not affect you, we strongly advise you to read all the information carefully, since it may become relevant to you one day and students are expected to know the rules. Take good notice of the mentioned rules, procedures and deadlines, but also of our well-meant advice to consult the student advisors Mrs Harbers or Mrs van den Boorn in case you need help or support: they are here for you.

You can check your study results at any time in SLM: do not hesitate to do so. Should you prefer a paper version of your transcript you can request it at the Front Office.

If you are unable to meet the standards set for the binding study advice because of officially recognised personal circumstances, you be allowed to continue your study programme. It is of great importance to report personal circumstances to the student advisors at the time of their occurrence, since this will facilitate the Hearing Committee in deciding whether the personal circumstances have had a substantial effect on your study results.
