The NWO research programme on “Caribbean Research: a Multidisciplinary Approach” held an information meeting on 5 July 2013. The report and presentations of the meeting are now available on the NWO website.
The application deadline for the programme is 15 October, at 12.00 pm (noon).
In 2010, the political reform of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was completed. The Netherlands gained direct responsibility for the 3 Caribbean BES islands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba became Dutch municipalities) and a large part of the sea in the Caribbean area. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science considered this to be a good opportunity to encourage excellent research into issues of scientific and social relevance in the Caribbean. The Ministry therefore developed this research programme in collaboration with NWO.
The programme also supports social sciences subjects, in addition to the main topic of geological and biological subjects. Deadline of the programme is 15th of October, noon.
