Are you going to vote on 21 March?

Did you know that around 15.000 out of the 25.000 international residents of Maastricht have the privilege to vote for a new City Council during the municipal elections on 21 March 2018? Learn more about the municipal elections and have the opportunity to talk to political parties who will be standing in the municipal elections during the ‘Let’s Catch Up to vote‘ on Saturday 3 March, organised by the Holland Expat Center South. Please register beforehand.

In the Netherlands, elections to the municipal councils take place once every four years. The next elections will be held on 21 March 2018. People living in Maastricht will have the opportunity to vote for a new City Council.

Let’s Catch Up to vote
To help you with information about the elections and give you an idea of the programmes of the local political parties, we will organise an event on Saturday 3 March, 10.00-12.30 in Centre Céramique, Let’s Catch Up to vote.

You will learn more about the municipal elections and you will have an opportunity to talk to representatives of political parties standing in the municipal election on 21 March.

Programme
10.00-10.30: Welcome with coffee/tea and pastries
10.30-10.35: Word of welcome by Holland Expat Center South and Europe Direct
10.35-10.45: General introduction to the municipal elections by the Advisor to the City Council
10.45-12.15: Speed dates with representatives of political parties
12.15-12.30: Conclusion by the Mayor of Maastricht, Annemarie Penn-te Strake

City Council elections
You are able to vote in the city council elections if:
• you are 18 years or older, and
• you are registered as a citizen of Maastricht, and
• you are a national of a European Union country, or, if you are a national of a country from outside the European Union, you have been legally resident in the Netherlands for at least 5 years (unbroken)*.

Please note: you will only be able to vote in the city council elections if you are registered in the Municpal Personal Records Database on 5 February 2018.

There is no fee to attend, but please register because of limited spaces.
