Call for applications ‘Valorisatie’ prize

All staff members of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are encouraged to apply for the new ‘valorisatie’ prize. This prize will be awarded at the beginning of each academic year to an individual or a group. Projects must demonstrate that they build on existing research at FASoS and that they have created demonstrable societal value.

To further stimulate ‘valorisatie’, FASoS is introducing a yearly ‘valorisatie’ prize. This prize will be awarded at the beginning of each academic year to an individual or a group. Projects must demonstrate that they build on existing research at FASoS and that they have created demonstrable societal value. ‘valorisatie’ is not only concerned with knowledge utilisation, but covers many forms of societal engagement, on different levels (local, regional, national and international) and with diverse partners and communities. This includes the co-creation of knowledge with societal partners and contributions to public debates. Thus, the prize is not restricted to any specific form of ‘valorisatie’ activities; rather, it aims to celebrate and support the diversity of ‘valorisatie’ activities at FASoS.

Where a single person applies, s/he must be a FASoS staff member. Teams must comprise at least one FASoS staff member; other members can be, among others, societal partners and FASoS students.

The prize is €2,000, which will go into the personal budget of one or more FASoS staff members. The sum must be spent on further ‘valorisatie’ activities. In your application, please provide a short statement on how you plan to spend the money (for example ‘use for a workshop including non-academic partners with a clear ‘valorisatie’ dimension).

A prize committee will select the winner. This choice is validated by the Faculty Board.
