Call for papers UACES/DIMES workshop

The academic association for contemporary European Studies (UACES) is pleased to announce a call for papers for its inaugural Diversity, Inclusion and Multidisciplinarity in European Studies (DIMES) workshop taking place at Leiden University on 5 and 6 March 2020, in conjunction with the European Studies Association of Sub-Saharan Africa.

This event will bring together academics from across the international community to produce outputs that afford visibility to underrepresented perspectives and voices in European Studies.

You can also attend the workshop without presenting.

We welcome submissions on the topic: ‘Beyond a Eurocentric Approach: Interactions between the Global South and Europe’. Submissions should take into account the key concerns of the DIMES project. We welcome submissions from academics from all backgrounds and would be particularly interested to hear from those with an interest in the intersection between European Studies and decolonisation and academics from the Global South.

Submissions should be sent to admin@uaces.org by 20 December 2019 and should include:

  • Title of the submission
  • Abstract of up to 300 words
  • Contact details and a brief biography (up to 150 words) of each author

Due to the time required for visa applications we are closing the call for papers in December to allow for successful applicants to ensure they have the necessary documentation in place.

Funding
All attendees will be provided with two nights’ accommodation free of charge. Applications for grants covering travel and visa costs will be considered on a case by case basis. UACES will prioritise early career researchers and those without access to additional funding.
