Call for student testimonials on learning and studying difficulties

The Student Representatives want to provide feedback and present solutions to the faculty regarding a better learning environment for students with learning or studying difficulties during their studies.

Are you someone with a diagnosed or undiagnosed learning disability, reading disability or writing disability or another form of dyslexic disability? Please send email with your experience (few hundred words) to studentrep@maastrichtuniversity.nl.

UM Christmas Karaoke Contest, on 23 December

On 23 December in the Auditorium Minderbroedersberg from 16.00 – 17.00, the first Maastricht University Christmas Karaoke Contest will take place. Open to the entire UM community (students and staff), it will be a social event to celebrate and sing together.

WICKED – The Interfaculty Conference is looking for new team members!

The WICKED project team is organising its Interfaculty Conference, scheduled for 15 April 2023.

They are looking for UM community members to take an active role in planning the content of the conference. Together with an ambitious interdisciplinary team, your responsibility is to create an intervention framework and workshop, which will be addressed by students during our conference.

3 FASoS bachelor’s programmes ranked #1 in the Netherlands!

Last week, the results of the yearly Keuzegids Rankings were presented and these look very promising: the bachelor’s programmes Arts and Culture, European Studies and Global Studies were ranked number 1 in the Netherlands once again in their respective categories, scoring high on “teachers”, “examination” and “atmosphere”.

In addition to this, with a score of 80, Global Studies even received the “Top Rated Programme” label, only given to programmes that score a + or ++ on all elements and have a total score of >75.

Crowdfunding garden: goal reached!

36 days before the deadline, we have reached the goal for our garden crowdfunding! 🥳

A huge thank you to everyone who has made a donation. Thanks to you, we now have over €7,500 available to transform the FASoS garden into a green, peaceful and fun place.

Crowdfunding garden: 99% of goal reached!

On 5 October, we festively opened the FASoS garden and officially launched a crowdfunding to be able to decorate the garden.

Colleagues and students donated to the garden en masse. Besides that, the FASoS ICT department sold IT equipment, and donated all proceeds to the garden crowdfunding; an amazing €3800!

Thank you to everyone who has donated, and a special thank you to the FASoS ICT department. Thanks to your donations, we have reached 99% of our goal so far.

Lunch concert at FASoS, on 29 November

This academic year, you can enjoy short concerts of classical music once per month in the Turnzaal at FASoS for free.

This is a great opportunity to take some time for yourself and get out of the routine of study and work.

During this 30 minute concert on 29 November at 14.00, you will discover the vibrant and rich sound of marimbas and vibrophones with the ensemble “Maaßticks”. The ensemble will play play pieces by Steven Reich and Maurice Ravel.

SG film screening of ‘Children of the Mist’, on 6 December

Join this Studium Generale Film & Talk screening of ‘Children of the Mist’.

Di, a 12-year-old girl from the mist-shrouded mountains of northern Vietnam, belongs to the Hmong, an ethnic minority in which girls get married at a very young age.
