Submissions open for the Kremers Award 2019

The Kremers Award has been set up to commemorate the restructuring activity that took place after the closure of the coal mines in the South Limburg region between 1965 and 2010. The Kremers Prizes will be awarded once every two years for the best research project described in a thesis by a higher education student.

Students (bachelor, master or PhD) are invited to upload their thesis by 31 August. More information can be found on the website.

Submit a thesis for the Dutch Student Union (LSVb) Thesis Award

Have you written, or do you know of a thesis which has been written on Higher Education? If so, submit the thesis for the Landelijke Studenten Vakbond (LSVb) thesis prize. The winning thesis will be discussed in an ‘education cafe’, which takes place in the Senate of the Netherlands (eerste kamer). More information can be found on the website (in Dutch). Theses in English can also be submitted.

Call for Papers: Memory Studies Association

Reminder: The Call for Papers for the third annual conference of the Memory Studies Association (MSA), which takes place in Madrid from 25-28 June 2019, will close soon! Submit your abstracts for papers, panels, roundtables and other events on any topic in Memory Studies directly to the MSA submission portal. The general deadline is 1 October.

Call for Proposals: SDG Action Competition

UM’s Opening of the Academic Year on Monday 3 September focuses on the responsibility of universities for sustainable development. The university is organising a competition on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means you will have the opportunity to play an active role in shaping our community and to win an award worth €3,000 for your SDG action project. Essay competition Financieel Dagblad (in Dutch): Trail through Europe

The ‘Financieel Dagblad’ organises an essay competition Trail through Europe. Students can submit an article (1200 words max.) on how you think Europe should anticipate to internal and external migration. Mathieu Segers, Dean of University College Maastricht, is a member of the jury. The best submission will win two interrail train passes for Europe.

The submission deadline is 10 July. Submissions can be made at spoordooreuropa@fd.nl.

Submit your thesis for the Leo Polak Thesis Prize 2018

The Leo Polak Foundation grants two prizes for master theses on a topic within the field of personal meaning-in-life and/or humanization of society. The theme for 2017-2018 is: Truth, personal truths, fake news.

The prize is intended for students from a Dutch-speaking university or for Dutch-speaking Belgians and Dutchmen at a foreign university who in the academic year 2017-2018 have completed a master thesis. Applications are due on 1 October.

Submit your paper for the Student Research Conference 2018

The Student Research Conference (SRC) is the annual scientific conference that is all about undergraduate research. Students can submit a paper about their research and after the last call of papers, all submissions are evaluated and rated by a Review Committee. They provide feedback, and select a group of approx. 60 students to come present their research at the annual Conference. Submit your paper before 29 July.

Call for Abstracts 4th International SEAHA Conference

The 4th International Conference on Science and Engineering in Arts, Heritage and Archaeology (SEAHA) takes place from 4-6 June 2018. The Call for Abstracts is now open and the deadline is 19 February. You are invited to submit your abstracts for oral and/or posters presentations that signify the best science presented in an accessible manner to a broad audience. Please submit your abstracts by completing the Abstract Submission Form.

The 2018 edition of the Geneva Challenge is a project funded by Swiss Ambassador Jenö Staehelin and is supported by Kofi Annan, the high-patron of the contest. The Geneva Challenge aims to encourage interdisciplinary problem solving analysis among master students on advancing human development within the scope of a relevant topic.
