Decisions and announcements Faculty Board meetings April 2019

The FASoS Faculty Board held two meetings on 9 and 24 April.


  • Following the consent of the Faculty Council, the Faculty Board approved the proposed changes EERs 2019/2020.
  • The Board decided to contribute €1.500 to the FASoS Ball on 2 May, organised by So FASoS.
  • The Board also contributes to the Faculty Drinks which Student Representatives organises on 20 May 2019.

Vacancy Educational Coordinator Global Studies

For the new interfaculty BSc programme called Global Studies the vacancy for Educational Coordinator is open. We are looking for a programme coordinator who will embrace the organisational and operational challenges this collaborative interfaculty programme offers and supports the programme director in making it a successful endeavour. The full vacancy is available on Academic Transer. Internal applications are open till 7 May.

MyUM/FASoS intranet information

Do you know what information you can find where on the FASoS intranet? And what the possibilities are within the intranet?

When you login to MyUM you enter your homepage. This is an overview of all UM information (for example money matters, work information, etc.), as well as news and updates of all the groups you are a member of.

If you click on FASoS Staff in the light blue menu on top, you find all FASoS specific information.

Decisions and announcements Faculty Board meetings March 2019

The FASoS Faculty Board held two meetings on 13 and 27 March.


  • The Faculty Board approved the Solver hours for administrative roles for the academic year 2019/2020. The overview of these Solver hours has been published on FASoS intranet (FASoS staff > organisation > Faculty Board).
  • The Board decided on the submitted RSF and VSF applications taking on board the advice of the OTO.

FASoS Green Impact team encourages sustainable habits at UM

Two weeks ago, on Friday 22 March, the sun was shining down onto Maastricht and it was the first warm day after the long winter. Whilst many were still working or studying, FASoS Soylent Green Impact team members were working like busy bees on setting up an outdoor clothing swap event in the faculty courtyard! The idea behind this initiative was to spread sustainable habits at UM.

Call for Ideas: Tiny Innovation Award, for the best small improvement

At FASoS, creativity abounds. Hence, it is likely that students and staff members are full of ideas for improving life at FASoS. The Tiny Innovation Award rewards the best small idea for a big improvement. The reward consists of immediate implementation, as well as a VVV gift voucher of €100.

Non-winning ideas will also be considered for implementation, so that no good ideas will be lost!

Submissions deadline for this round: Friday 12 April 2019.

Interesting speakers wanted for Well-being week 2019

The Well-being Movement UM (WBM) has been created to make students aware of their general well-being, in its broadest sense, by giving lectures, workshops or other events. Every year a well-being week is organised. During this week, a broad variety of events will be held at many UM locations.

The well-being week 2019 takes place from 4-8 November. We are looking for interesting speakers across the faculties with different academic specialisations.

Questionnaire administrative pressure in Higher Education

Quality assurance can go hand in hand with administrative pressure. Sometimes one needs administration to monitor the quality. Too many rules will however make for higher work pressure or will be at the expense of education.

That is why the ministry of OCW, together with the VSNU and Vereniging Hogescholen, started researching the administrative pressure around quality assurance.

Part of the research is an online questionnaire (in Dutch).

FASoS takes the lead in new UM waste sorting guidelines

As you may have noticed, all faculty waste bin locations now carry waste sorting information sheets. These sheets provide the guidelines concerning the latest UM waste sorting standards.

By own initiative, the Faculty Green Impact team -FASoS Soylent Green- took care of adjusting and distributing the new waste sorting information guidelines. FASoS is hereby the first UM faculty and overall location, that applies the most recent and correct guidelines.

Dates FASoS Graduation Ceremonies 2019

The dates for the FASoS graduation ceremonies (for graduates of the academic year 2018/2019) can be found on the FASoS Graduation website. Students will receive an email as soon as the Board of Examiners has determined that they have complied with the requirements of their study programme. This email will include an invitation to the ceremony and a link to the registration form. Registration is required.
