Updates on Fostering Future Leaders programme
Several changes have been made to the Fostering Future Leaders (FFL) programme.
First, it has been decided to step away from a nomination procedure only. Second, the FFL programme will be organised twice a year (instead of once a year), starting in February and September 2023. Third, the content of the FFL programme will be aligned with the vision and offer of the Leadership Academy.

Updates about Digital Studies Lab: The PLANT
Over the last months, the idea of a Digital Studies Lab at FASoS has become very concrete. It has developed from a formal business plan into dusty renovations in a few months.
Things are only getting more exciting now that furniture and hardware have been ordered! Read on for a short newsletter, in which the team wants to update you on the current developments of what is now known as “The PLANT”.
Apply now for NL_Wetenschap twitter takeover 2023
Every week, the twitterpage NL_Wetenschap, active since 2018, gives a scientist the opportunity to talk about their research and answer questions asked by followers. The account gives a platform to 48 scientists from as many disciplines as possible.
Dutch-speaking researchers can sign up now to take the stage on this twitter page in 2023.
The deadline to apply is 30 September 2022.
Brouwer Confidence Prize 2023
The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) is looking for the social initiative that strengthens mutual trust in Dutch society.
Until 30 September, anyone can submit initiatives that have a chance to win the Brouwer Confidence Prize worth €100,000.

The prestigious prize will be festively awarded on 23 January 2023 in Haarlem in the palatial Hodshon house, seat of the KHMW.
Danai Petropoulou Ionescu receives Daniel Heinsius Thesis Prize
Danai Petropoulou Ionescu had received this years Daniel Heinsius Thesis Prize during the 2022 Politicologenetmaal, organised by the NKWP and the VWP.
Each year, the prize is awarded to the best thesis MA Thesis in Political Science written at a Dutch or Belgian University.
Call for honours project descriptions 2022 – 2023
Associate and full professors are invited to design an honours project for the upcoming academic year (2022/23) related to their own research and research interests.
Honours projects are run for a maximum of 5 students from the top 5% of the bachelor programmes (Arts and Culture, European Studies, Digital Societies, Global Studies).

Partners of MERIAN sign collaboration agreement
On 24 May 2022, MERIAN hosted a launch event at the Jan van Eyck Academie to mark the official start of the network as well as for the partners to sign the collaboration agreement.
MERIAN would like to thank everyone present including the deans, controllers, researchers, members of the MERIAN working groups, the steering committee and vice members as well as the Jan van Eyck staff for making the event a success.
Thank you FASoS Teaching & Learning Festival
On 16 June the first FASoS Teaching & Learning Festival took place.
The organisation was a bit apprehensive before the start and therefore is very pleased with all your positive reactions during the day.
Everyone had a great time largely due to your discussions on and contributions to technology-enhanced learning.
The organisation is looking forward to writing up a first report with your input.

BA Digital Society student publishes first paper
The paper ‘Stigmatization of Women in Chinese Society‘, co-authored by Jiaru Zheng (Digital Society student at FASoS) and Yimiao Huang, has been published in 2021 International Conference on Public Art and Human Development (ICPAHD 2021) (pp. 391-396).
Moreover, this article has been accepted by CPCI.
