Introducing: Giuseppe Zaccaria

My name is Giuseppe Zaccaria and I’m a new PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science. I’ll be working within the ERC-funded research project NestIOr led by Dr. Hylke Dijkstra. My research will focus on the decline and death of International Organizations in the policy area of trade/finance. I’m very excited to join FASoS, and am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Full Professorship for Lies Wesseling

As from 1 September, Lies Wesseling, special chair in ‘Cultural Memory, Gender and Diversity’ has been promoted to full professor. Her work will continue to focus on questions of cultural memory addressed from the perspective of gender and diversity and more particularly on the cultural remembrance of child removal in the colonies by contemporary postcolonial Western societies.

Introducing: Laura von Allwörden

Laura is joining the FASoS in the ERC NestIOr research project “Who gets to live forever? Toward an Institutional Theory on the Decline and Death of International Organisations” as a doctoral researcher/PHD candidate. Here, she will do her research in the policy field of energy and environmental politics. Also, she will contribute to the theory building within the research.

Introducing: Leonard Schuette

My name is Leonard and I recently joined the Political Science department as a PhD candidate to reseach the crisis of multilateralism in the NestIOr project.

I received my MPhil from the University of Cambridge and my MA from the University of St Andrews. Before coming to Maastricht, I was a reseach fellow at the Centre for European reform, a think tank, in London. I very much look forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the community!

Introducing: Laura Barendregt

My name is Laura Barendregt and I am joining the Society Studies department as a teaching assistant, teaching courses in all three bachelor’s programmes. I have a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Sydney, Australia, and recently graduated from the faculty’s Research Master Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST).

I am excited to be back at FASoS in this new role and look forward to (re)meeting you all soon!

Introducing: Konjit H. Gudeta

Konjit Hailu Gudeta has joined FASoS (Department of Technology and Society Studies) as a post-doctoral researcher in August 2019. Konjit received her Ph.D. from the Department of Human Resources studies at Tilburg University, the Netherlands (July 2018).

Christian Ernsten assistant professor in Cultural History

The FASoS Faculty Board has promoted Christian Ernsten to assistant professor in Cultural History, from 15 August onwards. Christian is affiliated with the Maastricht Centre for Arts and Culture, Conservation, and Heritage (MACCH).

Introducing: Sergio Calderón Harker

Sergio Calderón is joining FASoS as a Teaching Assistant in the Philosophy Department as of August 2019.

Sergio completed his BA at the University College Maastricht (2017), where he focused on sociology and philosophy, and recently finished his MA in Political Philosophy at the Pompeu Fabra University (2019) in Barcelona, Spain.

Introducing: Yoram Carboex

My name is Yoram Carboex. I have just joined the department of History as a teaching assistant and will be teaching mainly in the BA European Studies. During my MA in Leiden my main research focus was on the emergence of human rights in the global imagination in the post-war period.

However, as I pursued my BA at University College Maastricht I have developed quite broad academic interests and I am looking forward to start teaching in an interdisciplinary environment.

Introducing: Iskander De Bruycker

My name is Iskander De Bruycker, a new Assistant Professor in EU Politics and Policy at FASoS. Before, I was a postdoc and a lecturer at the University of Antwerp (2016-2019) and the University of Amsterdam (2015-2016). At these universities, I taught courses on European integration, interest group politics and research methods. My PhD research dealt with the influence of lobbyists in EU legislative politics.
