In the last academic years, study-related announcements were communicated through the FASoS Weekly. With the Student Portal in place, study-related announcements will be communicated through this portal, and no longer via the FASoS Weekly. Please make sure to check announcements in your Student Portal regularly.
Upcoming exams: Rules to keep in mind
With regards to the exams scheduled in the upcoming weeks, please keep the following rules in mind:
- After an exam has officially started, students may no longer enter the exam room.
- Students may not wear any watch during an exam.
- Do not forget to bring your UM-card, passport, driver’s license (for Dutch students only) or state-issued identity card in order to identify yourself.
- It will not be possible to take any exam without proper identification.
Computer room closed due to exams
Please be informed that due to exams the computer room in the C-building (room 0.10, GG 76) will be closed on:
- Monday 24 October between 11.30 and 17.30
- Thursday 27 October between 11.30 and 17.30
- Friday 28 October between 8.00 and 14.00
If you need a computer/study room during these hours we can offer the following alternatives:
Board of Examiners open office hour cancelled on 20 September
Please note that the open office hour of the Board of Examiners has been cancelled on Tuesday 20 September (11.00-12.00). If you would like to contact the Board of Examiners (e.g. for requests) or have any questions please use the Study Information on our faculty website (choose Bachelor or Master at the top). The Open Office hour will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday 27 September (every Tuesday from 11.00-12.00).
Applications for NWO funding programme Research Talent open
Are you a talented master’s student and interested in doing a PhD programme in social sciences? The NWO funding programme Research Talent offers talented, upcoming researchers the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions of pursuing their scientific careers with a four-year PhD research project. The FASoS deadline for submission of draft pre-proposals to the GS Admission Committee is Thursday 8 September, before 12.00. Proposals may be sent to Laurie Baggen.
Launch new student portal on Monday 13 June
From Monday 13 June onwards, all FASoS students will have access to the new student portal. On Monday afternoon you will receive a separate email from us with the link and login instructions and from that moment your account will be active. For more information about the portal check the special project website.
Annual education and exam planning bachelor’s programmes 2016-2017
An annual planning of education and exams (timetable framework) has been made for all bachelor’s students for 2016/2017 (last year this was only in place for 1st year bachelor’s students). You can download the applicable framework below:
Course registration 2016-2017 open on 1 June 2016
As of 1 June 2016 you can register for your courses for the academic year 2016/2017. Please note the following deadlines:
- Period 1: 31 July 2016
- Period 2: 18 September 2016
- Period 3: 13 November 2016
- Period 4: 04 December 2016
- Period 5: 26 February 2017
You can register for courses provided you have submitted a re-registration request via Studielink.

As of 2015/2016, master’s students at FASoS are offered the possibility to postpone their graduation until 28 February 2017 the latest for an extracurricular internship in the 3rd (or 5th for Research Masters) semester.

- Submit your Final Work via ELEUM/Safe Assignment on 30 June 16:00 hrs. Central European Time (CET), the latest.
- Please note: for Double Degree Research Master ES students a different procedure applies; you will be informed by the programme director.
