Launch of the Centre for Global Health Research and Training (CGHRT)

Global Health is an emerging and rapidly growing academic discipline that addresses the implications on people’s and communities’ health and well-being of international trends and governance issues. To enhance this multi-disciplinary research field an interfaculty Centre for Global Health Research and Training (CGHRT) will be launched this summer. For further information please contact a.krumeich@maastrichtuniversity.nl.

Global health research involves the understanding of the linkages and interdependencies of global, biological, social and human systems and institutions, and relies on integrated contributions from various academic fields and disciplines such as epidemiology, basic sciences, computer sciences, medicine, law, economics, environmental and social sciences.

Maastricht University’s tradition of multi-disciplinary research offers an ideal setting for the study of Global Health. To enhance and facilitate this multi-disciplinary research an interfaculty Centre for Global Health Research and Training (CGHRT) will be launched early this summer. The CGHRT’s aim is to bring together academics with relevant expertise from the diverse Faculties at Maastricht University, allowing for cross sharing of knowledge and research experiences pertaining to issues and themes within global health. The CGHRT’s multi-disciplinary structure will allow researchers within UM to form flexible networks that can respond to ever changing needs for multi-disciplinary research in the world outside. Participation in the CGHRT’s will give these networks access to partners elsewhere, offering opportunities to collaborate with international research consortia in the acquisition of funds and the exchange of new insights.

We would like to invite colleagues from the UM Faculties with interest in and affinity with Global Health to participate in the Centre.

To express your interest or for further information please contact a.krumeich@maastrichtuniversity.nl
