Contribute to sustainability at FASoS by individual action at work

Help to make FASoS more sustainable with the following tips:

  • Turn the lights off when leaving rooms, use natural daylight wherever possible
  • Take breaks throughout the day
  • Report any issues with heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning to the Facilities Services Servicepoint
  • If you have to order equipment throught the UM ordering system, order sustainable alternatives
  • Dispose of waste correctly

See below for more details and other tips.

As you may know, FASoS has its own Green Impact Challenge team ‘Soylent Green’ to help make the faculty more sustainable in its research, education and operations. While many of us working at FASoS are already doing a lot to help Maastricht University be more sustainable (in any possible sense), others may find these tips helpful:

  • Please turn the lights off when leaving rooms; use natural daylight wherever possible. If you cannot turn off the light yourself and have complaints about this, you can contact the Facility Services Servicepoint either by email servicepoint-fs@maastrichtuniversity.nl or telephone: +31 (0)43-3882002.
  • It is healthy to take breaks throughout the day – this can include a walk around the block, a coffee or tea break. Some of our desktop systems have CtrlWORK installed, which may also help!
  • Please report any issues with heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning to the Facilities Services Servicepoint, either by email servicepoint-fs@maastrichtuniversity.nl or telephone (+31 (0)43-3882002).
  • If you buy new equipment through the UM ordering system, filter for sustainable items and buy those alternatives.
  • Do you have a trash bin at your workplace? Get rid of it! Use the waste separation bins in the hallways!
  • Please separate waste correctly: drinks cartons are plastic waste, Banditos cups are for general waste, only dry paper and plastic are recyclable.

Every little bit helps.
