CPD feedback workshop hosted by John Harbord, on Wednesday 27 November

The next FASoS CPD activity will be a feedback workshop, hosted by John Harbord. This workshop is also open to other colleagues interested in exploring the aims and techniques of formative feedback.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday 27 November 2019, from 15.00 – 17.00 in GG76 0.07 and is worth 2 CPD hours.

There are 20 places available. Please sign up here.

Individual feedback is probably the most important variable (of those under our control) in influencing student learning success. Yet students often complain about ‘unhelpful’, ‘unclear’, ‘insufficient’ feedback. And when revised drafts are submitted, we often wonder if they even read the painstaking comments we wrote.

This workshop focuses on responding to student writing, particularly with regard to writing issues (rather than content issues). We will explore the aims of formative feedback and the techniques available to maximize student learning, including hands-on discussion exercises in responding to short student texts.
