You Know You Can Buy It is a pop-up art exhibition created to present the perspective of 10 emerging artists from different parts of the world over our consumption-oriented society. The opening will take place on Thursday 11 June at 17.00, free entrance until 19.00. Location: B32 Artspace: Bourgognestraat 32, Maastricht. The curator is Felipe dos Santos, student Master Arts en Heritage, who developed the concept in Curatorship I and II.
Have you thought about what can and what cannot be possibly sold nowadays? Have you thought about our role in this market?
Based on the concept of commodification and on its paradoxical relations to consumerism, as suggested by the curator, the artworks were selected and/or commissioned by the curator. Illustrations, photography, printings, collages, and videos are the connecting elements of a narrative that proposes a reflection over our role in society.
