FASoS/MO-TRAYL is looking for assistants to conduct school surveys

In the MO-TRAYL project we are investigating how international mobility of youth affects their well-being and school performance. One of the ways we want to assess this is through a school survey amongst students between the ages of 15 and 19 and we need your help! We are looking for students that could assist us getting access to schools in Germany, The Netherlands and Flanders Belgium and help us conduct the survey (e.g. at your old school).

Tasks assistant

1. Contact schools
We ask you to contact schools you easily have access to (e.g. where you are alumni or know someone at), but will provide you with information and documents that you can use to contact schools. Hence, you do not have to develop these yourself.
Important to know: We survey students in the last two years of high school. So in The Netherlands think of VMBO 3/4; Havo 4/5; VWO 5/6, in Belgium think of BSO 5/6; TSO 5/6; ASO 5/6; and in Germany the last two years of Realschule, Hauptschule, Gymnasium, Oberschule or Stadtteilschule.

2. Conducting the survey
A researcher from the university will take the lead in conducting the survey but you will assist them. Concretely this means, assisting the researcher with handing out questionnaires, answer questions of students, help collecting the questionnaires and help with the organisation of the day. The researcher will bring all the needed materials.

How much time does it cost and when will we do this?
• We want to conduct the survey from January until May
• The time that is needed to conduct the survey in class is one hour of class, but we try to conduct the survey in multiple classes in one day. So you have to be available for a daypart. The time and date are decided together with the schools.
• You can decide yourself how many schools you want to contact and visit. If you only want to contact your old school, this is fine. You will then only spent one day and will be paid for this.

Requirements assistants
• You need to have attended high school in either Germany, The Netherlands or Flanders Belgium.
• Moreover, in Germany we only want to conduct the survey in Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Bremen. We understand you might not be able to assist us conducting the survey in Hamburg and Bremen, but you can still help us reaching the schools through your networks.
• You need to speak Dutch (for Belgium and The Netherlands) or German (for Germany)

What do you get out of it?
• Assistants receive €12 bruto per hour for doing the survey at the school. In addition, travel costs are reimbursed.
• If you are interested and you could use some data for your own study programme, it is possible to use part of the collected data. However, only in consultation with the researchers who will decide on a case-by-case basis.
