First event ‘Printed in Maastricht’ on 7 November (in Dutch)

Maastricht has a rich history of book printing. The first of a series of events will take place at Centre Céramique, Plein 1992, on Saturday 7 November, 14.30, with a lecture in Dutch by historian Emile Ramakers on Maastricht’s book printing history. Free admission. During the event, the project website (available from 7 November onwards) will be launched and the adopt-a-book programme will be introduced.

To make Maastricht’s printing history more widely known to the public, the University Library, Centre Céramique and the Historisch Centrum Limburg joined hands. Together they preserve some 7,500 unique books that were printed in Maastricht since the middle of the sixteenth century.
