In Memoriam: Ingrid Regout

Early this week, we received the sad news that our former colleague Ingrid Regout passed away in the night of 28 October. Ingrid joined the faculty in 2003 as master admissions officer and she retired from FASoS in December 2012.

The funeral service will take place this Saturday, 3 November, 11.00 at the church of Sint-Pieter op de Berg (Ursulinenweg, Maastricht).

At the start of the summer, Ingrid was diagnosed with cancer and it became clear that she would not recover. After a short stay in the hospital, she joined a hospice where many of her friends and former colleagues still enjoyed some beautiful moments with her.

When Ingrid started at FASoS, the faculty only had two (private) MA programmes: European Public Affairs and European Studies on Society, Science and Technology. With the introduction of the Bachelor-Master structure, she also became responsible for several other programmes.

With the departure of Ingrid, we have lost a very loyal, good-humoured and competent former colleague. She was passionate about her work and always willing to lend a helping hand. Ingrid loved the interaction with the increasingly international group of students. She was a staunch defender of their interests and many of them stayed in touch with her after graduation. After her retirement, she remained active with volunteer work and had time for her many hobbies. From time to time, she still paid us a visit, together with Flint, the dog she had received from the FASoS colleagues upon her retirement.

Ingrid will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure to work with her. Our thoughts are with her family.

Sophie Vanhoonacker, on behalf of the faculty board
