Introducing: Amelia Burhan

I am pleased to introduce myself as a new PhD candidate at FASoS, department of TSS. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Dutch Studies at the University of Indonesia and went to Korea to take my master’s degree in East Asian Studies at GSIS Sogang University. After obtaining my degree, I taught at Korean Studies Programme, Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia.

For my PhD research, I would like to combine what I have learned in my BA and my MA. Focusing on transnational identity and gender, the main concern in my research is to understand how the narratives and practices of identity are constructed and changed within Korean and Indonesian migrants in the Netherlands and which factors have contributed to this change. Furthermore, I would like to do comparison analysis on how the transnational identity is constructed between those two migrants.

If you would like to know more about my research, please do not hesitate to email me.
