My name is Karlien Strijbosch, and I recently joined FASoS as a teaching assistant at the Technology and Society Studies Department. I did my BA at University College Maastricht. In 2013 I finished the research master in Cultural Anthropology at Utrecht University. As part of my master, I conducted ethnographic fieldwork among well-educated single women in Singapore to investigate the influences of state policies on their intimate relationships.
After my master I have mainly worked in the field of migration. I started at the UAF, which is a NGO that supports refugees to find suitable study and work opportunities in the Netherlands. Afterwards I worked as an immigration officer on asylum cases with the Dutch immigration Service.
Because I studied at UCM, Maastricht is not entirely new to me. Nevertheless I am very happy to discover the university and city from a new perspective and to get to know all of you!
