Introducing: Marloes de Hoon

My name is Marloes de Hoon and I recently joined the Political Science department and ITEM. After having worked as a researcher at ROA (SBE) for two years, I am excited to now start my PhD project ‘Mobility in Context: Migration Trajectories in a Border Region Context’, supervised by Maarten Vink and Hans Schmeets. My research project will analyse the mobility pathways among migrants once they arrive in the destination context.

I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Sociology at the Radboud University of Nijmegen and the Free University of Brussels, the latter with a minor in demography and migration. My main research interests lie in (cross-border) human mobility, immigrant integration, social inequality and social cohesion. I look forward to discussing these themes with you and to developing my project as member of the Graduate School of FASoS, ITEM, and the wider Maastricht University community.
