My name is Swantje Falcke and since 1 January I am a post-doctoral researcher at FASoS, Department of Political Science. I will work on the ERC-project ‘Migrant Life Course and Legal Status Transition’ led by Prof. Maarten Vink.
I have always been interested in those fields of social science that are subject to public policy. So after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim in Germany, I came to the Netherlands.
There I followed a Master’s in Economics of Public Policy and Management at Utrecht University.
From 2012 to 2016, I worked on my dissertation at Utrecht University School of Economics which I will defend in April this year. My PhD deals with international migration. In particular, I analysed drivers of migration and cross-border commuting as well as ethnic penalties in labour market outcomes. My research interests are: migration, citizenship, ethnic penalties and public policy.
I am really excited to be here at Maastricht University and am looking forward to meeting you all!
