Introducing: Yf Reykers

My name is Yf Reykers. On 27 August 2018, I joined FASoS as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science (for one year). I will be involved in tutoring and teaching in the Bachelor and the Master in European Studies. In my research, I mainly focus on multinational military operations. I particularly study issues relating to the accountability of military operations, rapid response mechanisms and inter-organisational relations.

Before joining FASoS, I was a post-doctoral Research Fellow of the Leuven International and European Studies (LINES) Institute at KU Leuven, where I also obtained my PhD. I defended my thesis entitled “Delegation without control? Institutional choice and autonomy in UNSC-authorised military interventions” in June 2017, which was funded by a Fellowship by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). During this fellowship, I was also a visiting scholar at the Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at New York University and at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University.

I was born and raised in Belgian Limburg. When I am not doing research or teaching, I run and pretend to be a cyclist.
