Invitation to the first European Presidential Debate

On Monday 28 April the first European Presidential Debate will take place at the Vrijthof Theatre in Maastricht.

You are all warmly invited to attend this exciting event. Master’s students from FASoS can register for the debate via the official website of the first European Presidential Debate by using the following code: 27B35J

Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

From 22-25 May 2014, European citizens will head to the polls to elect a new European Parliament. These elections are expected to be different, not least because several European parties have put forward their candidates for the presidency of the European Commission.

In this context, Maastricht University, in cooperation with the City of Maastricht, Connect Limburg and the European Youth Forum, will organise the first European Presidential Debate on Monday 28 April 2014 in Maastricht. The candidates, Jean-Claude Juncker (European People’s Party), Martin Schulz (Party of European Socialists), Guy Verhofstadt (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party) and one of the two European Green Party candidates Ska Keller, will answer questions that have been collected from first time voters all over Europe, including in Maastricht (see: http://www.eudebate2014.eu/submit_a_question).

The debate will be held in front of an audience of 500 young people and broadcast live worldwide in 13 languages on EuroNews. The event will take place at the Vrijthof Theatre in Maastricht. The debate itself will start at 19.00 but participants are requested to be present at the theatre as of 18.00.

You are all warmly invited to the event. Master’s students from FASoS can register to attend the debate on the official website of the First European Presidential Debate: http://www.eudebate2014.eu/registration with the following code: 27B35J

Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

Those who do not manage to secure a ticket, are welcome to join a debate-watching event that will be organised in one of the UM auditoria (location still to be confirmed).

You can also watch the live stream of the debate via http://www.eudebate2014.eu/livestream_on_28_april or watch the live broadcast on EuroNews.
