From the beginning of this academic year I am joining FASoS as Writing Advisor, working with both students and faculty on BA, MA and PhD programmes to improve the quality of student writing. I see my task as both developing support for writing, and advising on the setting and scaffolding of writing tasks so as to give students the maximum opportunity to acquire and develop the necessary skills to succeed at university and beyond.
Prior to coming to Maastricht, for 17 years I was director of the Center for Academic Writing at Central European University in Hungary, and have worked as a consultant advising university administrations on writing support and providing training for teachers in a wide range of countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. My research interests include institutional responses to plagiarism, policy approaches to multilingual publishing, modes of individual writing support, and politics and policies of writing support in Central and Eastern Europe.
