The project EWORDS (Europeans Win Ostracism From a Remembrance to a Dialogue Society) funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Aline Sierp is coming to its end with one final event: The exhibition ‘A State of Exception’ taking place in Bureau Europa (Timmerfabriek, Boschstraat 9) from 27 March till 3 April.
On 26 March the project partners met at FASoS for the project’s final conference. On 27 March at 20.00 an exhibition and debate on migration and ostracism was opened in Bureau Europa. Given the outcome of the Provincial state election in The Netherlands the exhibition ‘A State of Exception’ couldn’t be more relevant.
On display are works by visual artist Christopher Meerdo (US), documentary filmmakers Alina Schmuch and Franca Scholz (D), researcher/ designer Thomas Stratmann (D) and architect Joram Raaijmakers (NL). Their work examines notions of the totalitarian state, ostracism, prejudice, borders, oppression, and discrimination in the context of European identity.
