‘Maastricht, Working on Europe’: opportunities for researchers

The ‘Maastricht, Working on Europe‘ group is looking for Post-doctoral researchers with a proven interest in one or more of the defined research themes:

  • Democracy, Politics, Security and Rule of Law
  • Identity, Heritage and the Citizens’ Perspective
  • Prosperity, Welfare and Inequality
  • Knowledge, Technology and Digitalisation

Deadline for applications: 9 November 2018.

‘Maastricht, Working on Europe’ is a joint effort by UM, the city and the Province of Limburg to emphasise the importance that Europe has for the region, and to harness the expertise present here towards an improved understanding of Europe and its relevance for citizens. A programme of outreach activities as well as a scientific research agenda have been just been launched, and this will include numerous opportunities, also for FASoS to contribute to, and benefit from.

Among the various actions to be funded by the programme, the first is the search for four post-doc researchers to address the different research themes that have been identified – you can find the vacancy notices at the bottom of the website. Calls for other actions – short periods for buy-outs, funding for workshops and conferences and support for the writing of working papers and policy briefs – will follow in the coming months.

‘Studio Europa’, the office from which this effort will be coordinated, will open soon in Onze Lieve Vrouweplein. An announcement for a meet and greet event to be held around that will be circulated as soon as the details are confirmed. A more extensive set of events will take place on 7 December when the first ‘Maastricht Days’ will be held.

This is an interdisciplinary effort that FASoS members are ideally placed to participate in and contribute to. Thomas Christiansen is the FASoS representative on the academic board of the programme, and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
