Made in Europe/Go Short – International Short Film Festival

From Thursday 24 – Saturday 26 April, Made in Europe will again cooperate with the International Short Film Festival in Nijmegen for the second edition of Maastricht’s Made in Europe/Go Short festival at Lumière Cinema in Maastricht. The festival will be showcasing the best new European short films, as well as activities heartily recommended to anyone with even a passing interest in film, such as Q & A sessions with some of the participating filmmakers and a master class.

From April 24 until April 26 Made in Europe will again cooperate with the International Short Film Festival in Nijmegen for the second edition of Maastricht’s Made in Europe/Go Short festival. The short film genre hasn’t yet caught on with the general public, says festival director David Deprez. “Our festival aims to change that. We got off to a flying start last year with 500 visitors. Consequently this year we have decided to expand to a two-day event, with a special kick-off evening on the 24th.” The complete programme of the festival will be available by the end of March.

In April, two different festivals in both the cities of Nijmegen and Maastricht will focus exclusively on short films. The Nijmegen-based festival will this year take place from April 9 – 13 with Maastricht’s turn from April 24 – 26. The main programme in Maastricht will comprise of the best short films that have been produced in Europe the last couple of years. Both the cream of the crop of new Dutch films and the promising work of burgeoning Belgian talent will have special festival programmes devoted to them. In a new section of the programme, all of this year’s Oscar-nominated short fiction films will receive the attention they deserve. Filmmakers from the Meuse-Rhine Euregion have their chance to shine in the special Made in Maastricht – programme. David Deprez: “Short films often serve as stepping stones to a professional career in filmmaking. In that respect it’s perfectly logical to host a short film-festival under the banner of Made in Europe. It has always been our aim to create opportunities for Dutch, Belgian and German filmmakers to present their work”
