Research on the creative industry is needed to enable the Netherlands to fulfill its ambition to be the most creative European economy in 2020. NWO has issued a call for research projects in which researchers and entrepreneurs collaborate closely on innovation. The focus of the call is on ICT and the humanities. Proposals should fit within the research agenda of the Top Sector Creative Industry, with an emphasis on Media & ICT, Games and Heritage.
The call is a two stage procedure, in which the applicant first submits a letter of interest. Letters of interest can be submitted anytime until 15.8.2015. On basis of their evaluation the applicant is invited to prepare a full proposal. There are three dates that the letters of intent are gathered to be considered:
4 November 2014, 11:59 hours CET;
2 April 2015, 11:59 hours CET;
4 August 2015, 11:59 hours CET (the last possibility to send in a letter of intent)
• Applicants must be senior researchers
• Minimum participation of at least two knowledge instutitions and at least one private party.
• The private partner must fund at least 30% or maximum 50% of the project budget (matching). The matching funds can be provided by more than one private partner. At least 15 % of this matching contribution must be in cash.
• The minimum grant that can be requested from NWO is 525.000 euros and the maximum amount is 1.125.000 euros.
• Research proposals are operating on the edge between ICT and the humanities.
• Research proposals must relate to the agenda’s of SRIA: the strategic research and innovation agenda or CLICK NL.
The funding is intended for postdoc and PhD research, replacement costs for (co-)applicant time whilst undertaking the proposed activity to cover the cost of teaching and other tasks and material costs for the project.
