Open Call for Workshop on the Future of Politics in Times of Populism

What roles do the new right and the old left play in today’s politics? Where can democracy find its place in the 21st century? Alongside Tariq Ali, Saskia Sassen, Srećko Horvat, Andreas Speit, Chantal Mouffe and Ágnes Heller, students will address these questions during the symposium ‘The Extreme Centre’, organised by the Academy of the Arts of the World in Cologne on 18-19 April 2017. Register by Wednesday 15 February.

In connection to the PLURIVERSALE VI opening symposium The Extreme Centre, the Academy of the Arts of the World invites enthusiastic students from Germany and Europe (including the UK) to participate in an intensive two-day workshop with prominent critical thinkers such as Chantal Mouffe, Tariq Ali, Saskia Sassen, Srećko Horvat, Andreas Speit and Ágnes Heller on the 18th and 19th of April 2017 in Cologne.

Please send one PDF file by 15 February to paszkowski@academycologne.org and include:

  • A letter of motivation (max. 300 words)
  • A proposal of one question or issue that you would like to discuss (max. 100 words)
  • A short biography (max. 200 words)

Applications will be accepted both in English and German. Please note however, that the workshop will be held in English.
