The Asia-Europe Summer School on the theme of “Cultural Pluralism in Asia and Europe” takes place from 24 July-11 August. This 3-week Summer School offers a great opportunity for students and young scholars from different regions to meet, exchange ideas and enhance cultural understanding. The Summer School is a joint effort by the Jean Monnet Network on Challenges to Multiculturalism and Multilateralism in which Maastricht University is one of the partners. It involves a 2-week programme at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, followed by a week of interactive lectures/seminars and educational visits to various institutions in Brussels. It provides a learning experience that is interactive and multicultural. Through lectures, seminars, field trips and group projects, the programme intends to raise awareness on many challenges that we face today in both Asia and Europe, in confronting diversities and in making multiculturalism and accepting cultural pluralism as a way of life. You will be inspired by the teaching and engage in robust discussions and critical reflections on developments in your own society and region. Through seminars as well as field trips and the rich cultural and social programme you will also have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships for the future.
