Possibility to postpone graduation for an (extracurricular) internship

As of 2015/2016 bachelor’s students at FASoS are offered the possibility to postpone their graduation for an extracurricular internship. Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  1. No study delay (all 180 credits of the bachelor’s exam have been earned within 3 years).
  2. The bachelor thesis must be passed in the first sit (June 2016).
  3. No previous internship during semester 5 or in the context of a free bachelor has been taken.
  4. A request for re-registration 2016/2017 has been submitted via Studielink before 1 August 2016.

The following procedure applies:

1 May 2016 the latest
You should submit a request for postponement of graduation to the Board of Examiners (BoE) per email: boe-fasos@maastrichtuniversity.nl. This request should state your intention to take an extracurricular internship after having fulfilled all requirements of the bachelor’s exam.

15 May 2016 the latest
The BoE will check if you do not have any study delay and passed all exams of the bachelor’s programme so far:

  • OK? You will receive a conditional positive decision from the BoE including detailed instructions on the further steps to be taken.
  • Not OK? You will receive a negative decision and you will graduate in line with the normal procedure.

1 August 2016 the latest
You should:

  1. submit a request for re-registration 2016/2017 via Studielink, and
  2. complete your request for postponement of graduation by sending additional information to the BoE. This information should consist of a study plan/information on the Internship (company/institute, name Internship Supervisor, period) and the graduation date you opt for.

During August 2016
The BoE will check whether you meet the requirements as mentioned above:

  • Ok? The BoE sends your study plan/internship information to the Programme Director and the Internship Supervisor for approval.
  • Not OK? You will receive a negative decision and you will graduate in line with the normal procedure.

31 August 2016 the latest
You will receive a final decision on 31 August 2016 the latest:

  • Study plan/Internship approved? You will receive a final decision that includes your postponed graduation date.
  • Study Plan/Internship disapproved? You will receive a negative decision and you will graduate in line with the normal procedure.
