Submissions open for the Kremers Award

The Kremers Award has been set up to commemorate the restructuring activity that took place after the closure of the coal mines in the South Limburg region between 1965 and 2010. The Kremers Prizes will be awarded once every two years for the best research project described in a thesis by a higher education student. Students (bachelor, master or PhD) are invited to upload their thesis by Wednesday 31 August.

Studies are required to describe innovative scenarios for future socio-economic development of a region. In this context, a region is smaller than a whole country, but can consist of parts of multiple countries (like euregions). The Prize is being set up to commemorate the impressive restructuring activity that took place after the closure of the coal mines in the South Limburg region between 1965 and 2010.  It is also intended to encourage higher education students (in both vocational and academic streams) to engage in dynamic and innovative regional development in the social and economic fields.

Students are invited to upload their studies by 31 august 2016. The first Prizes will be granted in winter 2016 and consist of €5000,- each.
