Represent FASoS at EuroSim 2019 in New York, from 28-31 March

Each year FASoS appoints a group of 5-6 students to represent our faculty at an international EU simulation called ‘EuroSim’, which brings together 200 students from various European and US universities.

In 2019, this annual event is going to take place from Thursday 28 March to Sunday 31 March at St. John Fischer College in Rochester, NY (Upstate New York / US). The topic of negotiations is the Multiannual Financial Framework.

Join team FASoS!

In the past years our students always did an excellent job, while at the same time it was a highly rewarding experience for them (see impressions from EuroSim participants on YouTube).

Team FASoS at EuroSim 2019 – what does it entail, what is expected from you?

  • Your job would be to represent FASoS during this simulation in the best manner possible; to be motivated, prepare and behave professionally. During the past few years, FASoS students did an excellent job during this simulation event, and we of course hope to be able to keep up this excellent tradition.
  • As a FASoS representative you will prepare the simulation by reading up on the MFF framework and, together with your fellow representatives, prepare for the simulation in a number of meetings (in February and March).
  • We are looking for motivated students with a professional attitude and who want to learn more about EU negotiations.
  • Six students and one staff member will go to Rochester to represent FASoS during this four day simulation event.
  • Accommodation, meals and registration costs will be covered by our faculty board. Please note: unfortunately, this year we are not able to cover the expenses for flights to New York. By applying to represent FASoS you agree to ensure that you are able to cover the flight costs yourself.
  • We should ensure that during our trip we miss as little educational activities as possible, but this activity will be exempted from the usual attendance rules.

How to apply

  • Send a motivation letter (max 500 words in total), including max 250 words outlining why you would be the best candidate to represent FASoS in these negotiations and 250 words why you are the best candidate to negotiate this particular topic.
  • Attach your CV and an overview of your grades (a screenshot will suffice).
  • Send your application to d.baltag@maastrichtuniversity.nl with the subject line ‘EuroSim 2019’
  • Deadline: Monday, 4 February, 12.00.
  • The best applicants will be informed on Tuesday 5 February and be invited for a short interview to take place on Wednesday 6 February.

Please feel free to be in touch about any questions that you might have.

Best wishes,

Dorina Baltag, FASoS EuroSim Representative
