Research by Stephenson and Spendzharova referenced in EC Policy Report

Research conducted by Paul Stephenson and Aneta Spendzharova has been referenced in the European Commission Joint Research Centre’s Science for Policy Report 2019.

The European Commission has been taking stock of its Better Regulation Agenda. Findings have been presented in a press release on 15 April. The Joint Research Centre has undertaken and published a review of the academic literature. The report is available online. It references research by Aneta and Paul.

The recently published 2019 report by the JRC is a state-of-the-art of the literature conducted by Giulia Listorti and authors. It aims at providing an overview of the literature debate addressing the Better Regulation Agenda adopted by the European Commission in 2015. It makes multiple references to the articles published in the special issue of the European Journal of Law Reform edited by Mariolina Eliantonio and Aneta Spendzharova that was published in early 2017, following the successful workshop organised at Campus Brussels in December 2015, supported financially by SWOL and the FASoS Research Stimulation Fund.

The report will be officially presented at a conference on Monday 29 April 2019, from 08.30 – 16.30, at the European Commission (Charlemagne Building – Rue de la Loi 170, Brussels). Speakers include First Vice President Frans Timmermans, Veronica Gaffey (Chair of the Regulatory Scrutiny Board), Anne Bucher (former Chair of the Regulatory Scrutiny Board) and representatives of civil society, businesses and EU institutions.

The key purpose of the European Journal of Law Reform is to respond to growing demand among scholars, legislators and practitioners of law in the private and public sectors for a forum for authoritative views on law reform in Europe and the World. A related purpose is to provide a systematic review of major initiatives for reform of laws and legal practice.
