Sally Wyatt to coordinate VSNU ‘Digital Society’ initiative

The VSNU (Association of Universities in the Netherlands) has launched a nation-wide initiative to conduct research about the ‘digital society’, and to consolidate the Dutch position. Together with Professors Inald Lagendijk (Delft) and Maarten de Rijke (UvA), Sally Wyatt will coordinate the initiative for the coming three years.

The aim of the VSNU’s research programme is to give the Netherlands a leading international position in the field of people-oriented information technology and to find solutions to global challenges. The programme focuses on seven themes:

  1. Citizenship & Democracy,
  2. Responsible Data Science,
  3. Health & Well-Being,
  4. Learning & Education,
  5. Work & Organisations,
  6. Digital Cities & Communities
  7. Safety & Security

All Dutch universities have committed money and people to this initiative. The first meeting of the coordinators with the theme leaders will take place on 22 March in Utrecht.

More details and background documents can be found on the VSNU website.
