The Bombardment of Dresden – Lecture by Prof. G. Verbeeck

Wednesday 16 October 16.00, Karl Dittrichzaal, SSC, Bonnefantenstraat 2, free entrance. After the reunification of Germany, Dresden was largely restored to its former glory, but the scars remained and continued to stir the public debate.

Was the bombardment a military necessity to force the Nazi regime on its knees, or was it an allied war crime? In 2010 a historical inquiry brought more clarity with plain figures for the tragedy. The lecture is given by Prof. G. Verbeeck, Associate Professor in History, FASoS & Professor German History, KU Leuven
On the same day, Prof. G. Verbeeck will give the same lecture in Dutch at 8pm at the Auditorium (Aula) of Minderbroedersberg 4-6.
