Training course ‘Grants for individuals’

Are you a junior staff member and are you preparing an individual competitive grant proposal? The training course ‘Grants for Individuals’ trains academics in the last year of their PhD research and up to three years after their doctorate to apply for competitive individual grant schemes. For more information, contact research funding adviser Sarah Melker.

The aim of the course is to train young academics for competitive individual grant schemes. This is done by working on actual proposals, and preparing for rebuttals and interviews.

The training is concrete: you enter the course with a draft proposal for a certain programme, and leave it with a version which is ready to submit. During the course you will review other proposals, rewrite your draft, present and refine your presentation. About 50% of the FASoS candidates who participated in the course in the past actually got the grant in the end.

To be able to participate you need to:
• Have a CV and 1-2 page proposal ready by 10 December. The proposal should be aimed at an individual grant funding scheme, e.g. Marie Curie fellowship grant, Rubicon grant and the Veni grant (please note all individual grant schemes are allowed, not only the mainstream ones).
• Have full support from your PI to ensure you are supported and have sufficient time to complete the course. The work involved is intensive (6 meetings plus homework incl. reviewing, rewriting, and preparing presentation).
• Go through an half hour intake with the research funding advisor before Christmas.

Please note we offer separate courses for Vidi and ERC starting grant candidates.
