AGORA soirée ‘Rethinking Innocence in Intercountry Adoption’, 12 February

On Wednesday 12 February, 18.00 – 21.00 at the Spiegelzaal (Grote Gracht 80-82), UM AGORA will host a soirée on ‘Rethinking Innocence in Intercountry Adoption‘.

Attendance is free, but registration is desired. To register, please send an email to agora-fasos@maastrichtuniversity.nl before Saturday 8 February. All welcome!

Intercountry adoption used to have the humanitarian aura of saving children from the developing regions in this world. But is the practice really this innocent? Lies Wesseling (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and Elvira Loibl (Faculty of Law) will tackle this issue from historical and criminological perspectives. The discussion will be moderated by André Klip (Faculty of Law).

Soup, sandwiches and soft drinks provided. Music by TTBB Rhythm Section.

UM AGORA is an outreach initiative of Maastricht University staff working in the field of gender and diversity studies, who want to exchange ideas with the local community. It is coordinated by the Centre for Gender and Diversity of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This is the second of a series of soirées running from November 2019 to November 2020.
