Vacancy: General Member FASoS Board of Examiners

Since September this year, FASoS offers a third bachelor’s programme: Digital Society. For this programme, the quality is monitored by an Educational Programme Committee and the Board of Examiners.

Considering this new bachelor’s programme, we would like to extend the Board of Examiners. Are you interested in the teaching and assessment practices at FASoS? Consider the vacancy for General Member of the FASoS Board of Examiners (BoE).

Similar to the other BoE members, a main task of the General BoE Member is to take part in the monthly BoE meetings and deliberations. You will prepare opinion statements according to the agenda and the provided background materials of the meetings, present reasoned arguments and views during the discussions, advise on the advantages and disadvantages of certain courses of action, and provide input for the BoE policy documents and formal position papers. Furthermore, the General Member presides over a number of graduation ceremonies. Occasionally you may be asked to take part in hearings regarding individual cases (e.g. plagiarism and appeals).

Taking into account the current composition of the BoE, a new member of the BoE should preferably teach in, or have affinity with, the Digital Society programme. For this position we are looking for a colleague from the academic staff who:

  • Is enthusiastic about teaching and the organisation of educational and assessment practices in our Faculty;
  • Holds a PhD title, is appointed on a tenured position, and has taught for at least 2 years at FASoS;
  • Has affinity with the legal aspects of educational processes, e.g. the Dutch legislative framework (WHW), the UM assessment policy and Exam Regulations, and formal procedures of FASoS educational policy.

Optional/additional expectations:

  • Skills with regard to the statistical analysis and display of data is an advantage;
  • If the candidate has experience with participation in other FASoS educational committees/organs, this will also be regarded as an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to take his/her function per 1 January 2020. The remuneration previewed for this position is 60 solver hours on a yearly basis. Interested candidates are encouraged to send a CV and a short motivation letter/email by Friday 8 November to Cindy van Montfoort.
