Vacancy: Programme Director Research Master European Studies (RMES)

FASoS has a vacancy for the position of Programme Director of the Research Master European Studies (RMES). The selected candidate is expected to start in September 2016. The Research Master European Studies is a two-year international Master of Science Degree Programme in European Studies. It is a multi-disciplinary, research-oriented Masters Course focusing on historical, cultural, political, social, and economic aspects of the process of European integration. It is designed to provide training for students of different national and academic backgrounds, broadening their knowledge and understanding of contemporary Europe, and increasing their acquaintance with theories and methods that are relevant to a critical study of European integration. The programme also offers a double degree track together with the University of Cologne.

Programme Director of the RMES

The Programme Director has responsibilities in the following areas:

1. Giving strategic direction to the programme;
2. Coordination of teaching staff and interaction with other internal players such as OMT, the board of examiners, MarCom, etc;
3. Curriculum Development in response to both internal and external developments;
4. Quality Assurance (f.e. through monitoring the evaluation and updating of courses; managing of re-accreditation processes; alignment of content and assessment);
5. The exchange and internship program in the third semester;
6. Finance (management of budget);
7. Admission of new students to the programme on a yearly basis in cooperation with the Master Admission Office
8. External representation (f.e. alumni; university of Cologne and other partners).

• Has a vision about the future direction of the programme
• Has strong research credentials
• Holds a professorship and has prior experience with teaching in the programme;
• Holds the BKO certificate;
• Is an inspiring leader and team-player;
• Is willing to go the extra mile on the road of educational improvements;
• Has strong managerial skills
