Vacancy Student Assistant for the EAST research project

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled student to assist the work of a new research network coordinated at FASoS that has recently been awarded EU funding. The EAST project, directed by Prof. Thomas Christiansen, brings together researchers from seven universities across Europe, Asia and Australia to study trade and security relations between the EU and Asia.

The position is for 16 hours per week. The application deadline is 14 September.

The EAST project involves the organisation of a number of international conferences and research workshops leading to the publication of several books.

The internship involves the following duties:

  • managing correspondence among members of the network
  • developing and maintaining the project website using WordPress
  • preparing conference budgets and maintaining financial overviews
  • providing research assistance
  • helping to prepare manuscripts for publication
  • providing organisational support for events and meetings
  • other administrative and academic support tasks related to the project

We are looking for a candidate with the following profile:

  • interest in research on the EU and its foreign policy
  • excellent academic writing (in English)
  • good organisational and communication skills
  • competence in the use of Word Office applications
  • familiarity with WordPress software
  • ability to work flexible hours (study schedules will be respected)

The appointed person should be able to start working from 1 October onwards, and the appointment will be initially until 30 June 2019, with the possibility for an extension for a second year depending on performance and circumstances.
