Workshop ‘Public Ethics and Integrity in the European Parliament and Commission’

As the mandate of the current European Parliament and Commission is drawing to an end – with elections planned for next year – this workshop takes stock of ethics and transparency measures initiated and/or implemented in both institutions since 2014. The workshop is convened by Dr. Andreea Năstase (FASoS) and Dr. Natassa Athanasiadou (Law).

Friday 25 May, 10.00-18.00, UM Brussels Campus (Avenue de Tervueren/Tervurenlaan 153). Register online.

In particular, we explore in a comparative perspective points of convergence and divergence in the regulatory approaches of the European Parliament and Commission. The workshop brings together Law and Political Science scholars, as well as practitioners from EU Institutions and NGOs, in the framework of two panels. Discussion topics include the regulation of conflicts of interest and so-called ‘revolving doors’ situations, relations between public office holders and interest representatives, as well as internal and external mechanisms of control.

The workshop is organised under the umbrella of CERiM and convened by Dr. Andreea Năstase (FASoS) and Dr. Natassa Athanasiadou (Law Faculty). Attendance is free, but registration is required. For more information, please contact the convenors.
