Call for applications: YERUN Researcher Mobility Awards

Maastricht University is one of the founding members of the network of Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN). YERUN is pleased to announce the YERUN Researcher Mobility Awards. These are 15 competitive annual awards aimed at PhD candidates, early-career researchers and established academics at YERUN universities. YERUN provides 10 awards per year: €1000 for one week and €1500 for a two-week visit. Apply by Friday 15 December 2017.

Through the awards, researchers will be enabled to:

  • Work with other YERUN academics on a research project or publication
  • Promote multi-disciplinary research across the YERUN network
  • Enrich the research and training opportunities for PhD students, early career, postgraduate and postdoctoral scholars within the YERUN network.

In order to apply you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • You must be a current member of staff, researcher or graduate student at one of the YERUN institutions. A list of institutions can be found here.
  • Researcher Mobility Awards will only be used to visit another YERUN institution in a country different than your home institution.
  • You must be willing to contribute to activities at the host institution, these can include the presentation of your core research project, attending research or training events and exploring further opportunities for joint collaboration.
  • You must agree to submit a report (500 words) on the outcomes after your visit and a follow-up report (1000 words) describing any subsequent research collaborations with YERUN partners no later than one year after the award. This information will be used for YERUN Communication and Evaluation activities.

Your application will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Likelihood of significant outcomes; external funding, joint publications or policy impact and potential long-term benefits for YERUN
  • Balance of disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research projects across the spread of awards
  • Commitment from the YERUN host to support the visit. New collaboration links will be encouraged.

How to apply:
If you wish to apply you should first contact the UM YERUN coordinator, Mr. Jan Hupkens before the deadline of 15 December, 17.00 CET, indicating:

  1. your preferred YERUN host institution,
  2. the duration of the mobility,
  3. your area of research.

He will request the host institution to confirm the incoming mobility and the applicant will be required to fill the detailed application form. Candidates will be informed by February 2018 regarding their application.
