As we mark the one-year anniversary of the first lockdown in the Netherlands, let’s remember some of the suggestions that were being made about how we could spend our time.
There were reminders that Shakespeare wrote ‘King Lear’ and ‘MacBeth’ during an outbreak of the bubonic plague at the beginning of the 17th century. It was also suggested (wrongly) that Newton made some of his breakthroughs in calculus later that century during another outbreak of the plague.
The implication was that we should all make good use of our time to be creative and study hard. The contributions for our second collection of art and poetry certainly confirm the enormous creativity of the FASoS community of students and staff.
In this week’s contribution, you can see some of the extraordinary macro-photographs (extreme close-ups) taken by Samuel Gürtl, an ESST master student.
