Are you passionate about European affairs? Are you curious about policy making and have a keen interest in research and writing? Then apply for the board of 89 Initiative Netherlands!

The 89 Initiative is a policy network aimed at mobilizing young Europeans in the revitalization of the European Project. It was founded in 2015 by LSE students in London and is represented in seven regional chapters across Europe.

The Maastricht chapter is the youngest and mainly acts as a bridge between the Initiative and universities in Europe. In close collaboration with Maastricht University, this chapter will aim at translating the experiences of young citizens of Maastricht and the Netherlands into policies and projects. Its thematic focus areas are digital democracy and sustainability.

As the current academic year is coming to an end, the chapter is looking for students to join its core team.

The board of the upcoming academic year will consist of the following roles:

  • Coordinator (1)
  • Head of Policy (2)
  • Head of Events (2)
  • Head of PR & Communications (1)
  • Treasurer (1)

The chapter organizes various events and conferences, produces publications concerning European affairs and policies, and conducts outreach and local engagement. Although you will be mainly responsible for your area, you will contribute actively to other tasks and activities within the chapter. While the work is diverse and exciting, it is rather demanding, thus expect to invest a considerable amount of time in it. As member of the core team you will benefit from the extensive network and resources of the initiative.

If you are interested, please apply by Sunday 30 June, midnight (23.59). To apply, send your resume along with a motivation letter of 250-400 words specifying your interest in the organisation, which role you are interested in, and what you may contribute. Please send the application documents to netherlands@1989generationinitiative.org. Selected applicants will be called in for a brief interview which will take place in July.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Best wishes,
The board of 89 Initiative Netherlands
