Anna Herranz-Surrallés co-edits volume on EU Energy & Climate Policy

The special issue “Renegotiating Authority in EU Energy & Climate Policy” in the Journal of European Integration (vol. 42, no. 1, 2020) results from the work of the recently concluded UACES Research Network on European Energy Policy, convened by J. Fairbrass (UEA), A. Herranz-Surrallés (UM) and I. Solorio (UNAM).

It gathers 9 contributions, seeking to understand the confluence of integration and centrifugal tendencies in EU Energy and Climate policy.

Together the papers cover topics as varied as public opinion attitudes towards EU energy policy (Jale Tosun & Mile Misic), the new regulation on the governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action (Pierre Bocquillon & Tomas Maltby), the role of private energy transmission operators in the internal market (Sandra Eckert & Burkard Eberlein), the evolution of EU renewable energy and efficiency policies (Israel Solorio & Helge Jörgens, and Claire Dupont), the dilemmas of the EU regulatory power in the gas market (Andreas Goldthau & Nick Sitter), the local and external dimensions of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline controversy (Anke Schmidt-Felzmann), and the impact of foreign policy challenges on EU energy policy (Richard Youngs).
