Akudo McGee heads Dutch branch of think-tank

Akudo McGee will head the think tank 89 Netherlands– the Dutch chapter of the pan-European think tank 89 Initiative.

89 Netherlands will partner closely with Studio Europa Maastricht, Working on Europe, a joint programme created by UM, the City of Maastricht, and the Province of Limburg. Akudo hopes to unite researchers based at UM and elsewhere with Dutch policy-makers and the local community.

Akudo will combine her work at Studio Europa Maastricht, where she is already based with her new role at 89 Netherlands. The two organisations will work together closely, collaborating on research outputs, events, and other outreach activities.

89 Netherlands and Studio Europa Maastricht share common goals, thus, making the partnership advantageous for both parties. In this partnership, both organisations hope to engage researchers within the UM network in their mission to confront EUrope-wide issues such as the climate crisis and the EU’s democratic deficit. Together they hope to bridge the gap between research conducted on such pressing issues, policy developed to resolve these issues, and the communities affected by both these issues and the policies designed to mitigate them. They also hope to further connect UM researchers with the local community and engage local stakeholders in the discussions about the issues that they experience first-hand.
