MYA debate on Recognition and Rewards implementations, on 14 January

Recognition and Rewards implementations are well under way. Nevertheless, some degree of criticism on tenets of the approach has been presented in various ways.

On 14 January 2022 at 16.00, the Maastricht Young Academy will host an online debate on Recognition and Rewards. Prof. Hanneke Hulst (Leiden University) and Prof. Floris de Lange (Radboud University) will help us dive into the relevant issues in the R&R revolution.

Mareike Smolka successful co-applicant of EASST Award for STIR seminars

Lea Beiermann publishes blog on microscopy slide production

Lea Beiermann has published a blog post on Mosa Historia.

In her blog post, Lea explains how microscope slide makers started to share and preserve their slides during the mid-nineteenth century. Not only did they create beautiful slides, but their work should also be understood as an important practice that shaped how scientists understood their world.

She was invited to talk about the ethical implications of self-driving cars, following Mercedes’ announcement that they are releasing a car with a Level 3 autonomous driving system in Germany.

Anique Hommels awarded NWO/JPI Urban Europe grant

Anique Hommels has, together with Marc Dijk (Maastricht Sustainability Institute), been awarded a research grant for the ‘Embedterlabs’ project by NWO/JPI Urban Europe.

The project is supported by a consortium consisting of universities, municipalities and urban stakeholders.

Launch sustainability interview series: no more plans for drawers

The FASoS Sustainability Platform is interviewing students and staff at the faculty who are working on sustainability.

Sjoerd Stoffels started making more sustainable personal choices many years ago, but his efforts don’t end there. To him, engaging with sustainability at FASoS is a logical consequence of his motivation. Ever since he took on the lead in the FASoS Green Impact team in 2018, he has been putting work into change at FASoS.
