Bachelor European Studies Education Program Committee meeting update

Last month, all members of the Education Program Committee (EPC) of the Ba European Studies met for the first time this year to establish the agenda that will be worked on this academic year.

Find out about the EPC’s work representing you in the Faculty through the Meeting Updates series in the FASoS Weekly! After each Committee meeting, an update will be posted so you can follow the progress and keep up with all relevant developments at FASoS.

Last week, the majority of the discussion time was dedicated to the thesis trajectory ‘reform’. In the past few years, the faculty has observed a high number of students signing up for the thesis trajectory who have encountered challenges submitting their work. Additionally, the shortage of supervisors has not made it easy neither for students nor staff members to ease the work process.

Discussions arose last year and picked up last week. The topic was reviewed, and possible solutions have been proposed yet some concerns still exist among the members of the committee. The discussions about the thesis are not of concern to this years’ students. You will continuously be updated on the matter.

For the rest of the meeting, there was a revision of last year’s proposal on the characteristics and a discussion on what the expectations should be of the reflection week. The topic of the reflection week will be added to future agendas. Additionally, attendees briefly brainstormed on interesting survey and interview research ideas for students to study for their skills course in year 3 period 4.
